Attorneys

Melissa Sawyer is a native of Monticello Arkansas.  She is a graduate of Monticello High School. She received a B.A. in psychology from Hendrix College and received her J.D. from George Washington University in Washington DC.  While in DC and before law school, Melissa worked as a criminal investigator for criminal defense attorneys in the Washington DC metro area after completing an investigator internship with the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia.  During law school, she was a student attorney in the criminal division of DC Law Students in Court.

She has volunteered her time to give back to the community by being a poll watcher during elections.  She does pro bono work with the Center for Arkansas Legal Services.  She is a member of the Arkansas Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys and the NAACP.   She is the founder of AGS Alumni and a 2012 graduate of the Arkansas Bar Association Leadership Academy
